How We Rate Casinos: Testing and Licence Checks

Our rating methodology is based on real-money testing, withdrawal verification, game variety analysis, and licence checks. Every casino is scored across 6 key criteria.

Why We Built an Independent Rating System

Most casino review sites score operators based on commercial relationships. The higher the commission, the higher the rating. We have seen sites award five-star scores to casinos that delay withdrawals for weeks, bury critical bonus terms in fine print, or run on unlicensed software. That is not a review — it is advertising disguised as editorial content.

We built our rating system to fix that. Every casino listed on this site has been tested with real money by our review team. We deposit our own funds, play through bonus requirements, request withdrawals across multiple payment methods, and document every step. No casino pays for placement here. No score is influenced by a commercial arrangement. Our methodology is transparent, structured, and applied consistently to every operator we review.

The result is a rating system designed for one purpose: helping UK players make informed decisions about Curaçao-licensed casinos based on facts, not marketing.

Apply these criteria to our tested Curaçao casino list.

How the Review Process Works

Every casino review follows the same structured process. First, we verify the operator's licensing status directly through the Curaçao Gaming Control Board registry. If the licence cannot be confirmed — or if the operator is using an expired sub-licence under the old framework — the review stops there.

Once licensing is confirmed, we create a real player account and make a deposit using a standard UK payment method. We claim any available welcome bonus and play through it under normal conditions, tracking the wagering progress, eligible games, and any restrictions we encounter along the way.

After meeting wagering requirements — or after a reasonable period of play — we submit a withdrawal request. We document the processing time from submission to the funds arriving in our account. This step alone disqualifies more casinos than any other part of our process.

Throughout testing, we evaluate the game library, mobile experience, and customer support. Every interaction is recorded. Every claim the casino makes on its website is checked against what we actually experience as a player.

The Six Criteria We Score

1. Licensing & Safety

We verify the casino's Curaçao Gaming Control Board licence status, including whether the operator holds a direct licence under the new regulatory framework or is still operating under a legacy sub-licence. We check SSL encryption, responsible gambling tools, and whether the casino publishes clear terms around account closures, self-exclusion, and dispute handling. Operators that cannot demonstrate a valid, current licence are excluded from our rankings entirely.

2. Bonus Fairness

A large headline bonus number means nothing if the terms make it impossible to withdraw. We read every bonus term in full — wagering requirements, maximum bet limits during wagering, game weighting, time restrictions, and maximum withdrawal caps. We then play through the bonus ourselves to confirm whether the stated terms match the actual experience. Casinos that advertise misleading bonus offers or bury critical restrictions receive lower scores in this category.

3. Game Selection

We assess the breadth and quality of the game library. This includes the number and variety of slot titles, the availability of live dealer games, table game selection, and whether the casino partners with reputable software providers. We also check whether games load correctly on both desktop and mobile, and whether the casino offers provably fair or certified RNG titles. A large library of low-quality or cloned games scores lower than a curated selection from trusted providers.

4. Withdrawal Speed

This is the single most important metric for most players, and it is where many Curaçao casinos fall short. We make real withdrawal requests using the payment methods available to UK players — typically bank transfer, e-wallets, or cryptocurrency. We document the time from request submission to funds received. We also note whether the casino imposes unnecessary verification delays, reverse withdrawal windows, or weekly and monthly withdrawal limits that restrict access to winnings.

5. Customer Support

We test customer support through every available channel: live chat, email, and where offered, telephone. We submit genuine queries — about bonus terms, withdrawal timelines, and account verification — and assess both the response time and the quality of the answers. A fast response that provides incorrect or scripted information scores no better than a slow one. We also check support availability hours, language options, and whether the support team can actually resolve issues or simply escalates everything.

6. Mobile Experience

With the majority of casino traffic now coming from mobile devices, we test every site on both iOS and Android. We evaluate page load speed, navigation usability, game performance, and whether all features — including deposits, withdrawals, bonus claims, and support access — work correctly on mobile. Casinos that offer a dedicated mobile app are noted, but a well-optimised mobile browser experience scores just as highly.

How Final Scores Are Calculated

Each of the six criteria is scored individually on a scale of 1 to 5. The final overall rating is a weighted average that reflects the relative importance of each category to the typical UK player. Licensing and Safety carries the heaviest weight — because no bonus or game library matters if the operator is not properly licensed. Withdrawal Speed is the second most heavily weighted criterion, followed by Bonus Fairness, Game Selection, Customer Support, and Mobile Experience.

We do not round up generously. A casino that scores well in five categories but fails on withdrawals will not receive a high overall rating. Our scores reflect what we actually experienced, not what the casino promises on its landing page.

Ongoing Monitoring and Score Updates

A casino review is not a one-time event. Operators change ownership, update their bonus terms, add or remove payment methods, and adjust withdrawal processing times. We revisit every listed casino periodically to confirm that our scores remain accurate. If an operator's performance deteriorates — slower withdrawals, removed support channels, or licensing issues — we update the score and note the change in the review.

We also monitor player feedback and community reports. While we rely primarily on our own first-hand testing, consistent patterns of negative player experiences will trigger a re-review. Our goal is to ensure that every score on this site reflects the current state of the casino, not a snapshot from months ago.

If you have had a recent experience — positive or negative — with any casino listed on this site, we encourage you to contact us. Your input helps us keep our reviews honest and up to date.
